Happy Monday

Daddy took this picture because it was the only minute he said that they sat still this weekend!
So thankful that tomorrow is Monday and the start of a new week! Last week was a really tough week for us. It started last Sunday when we discovered the dogs had fleas. Ten o'clock at night they were getting flea baths, we were vacuuming, washing sheets, etc. First thing Monday morning they were at the groomers getting very short hair cuts and flea preventive medicine. We found out that fleas are a big problem here, especially after it rains and we've had a good share of rain lately. Good news is that we caught it early before it became a real problem and the girls are now flea free!
Also Monday morning, we found out that Chaz's $500+ road bike was stolen from the ROTC building on campus. It was in a locked room and should have been fine there.... he filed a police report, called local pawn shops, but it doesn't look like we'll see that bike again.
Monday afternoon I took Andrew to the doctors for what I thought and hoped was a simple infection of his thumb nail/cuticle. Turns out he had cellulitis and was going to be treated with not one, but three antibiotics! The 'working mom guilt' kicked in because I was gone so much while orienting for my job and I believe that I would have noticed this sooner had I been home with him.
I took the kids with me on Tuesday to the uniform shop to pick out some new scrubs for work. Not only did they not want to be there, but Andrew's belly was upset from the antibiotic therapy we just started him on. He had a 'blowout' in the dressing room at the scrub shop... it was everywhere... the carpet, his pants, underpants, socks and shoes! We immediately left the store and I did my best to clean the little guy up with all of 3 wipes that I had left in the diaper bag. So not my day! Things did not get any better once we got home. Kids got right into the bathtub and after they were cleaned and dressed, I started to make dinner. I figured it was hot because I had been running around so much, but when I went to the thermostat, to my surprise, there was no reading! The guys who had been up in our attic working on our security system wiring that AM, accidentally did something to the AC connection! Believe it or not, it is still hot/muggy enough here that we need the AC. Chaz was able to find and fix the problem when he got home from work... that's a whole other story that I'm not even going to go into!
So Thursday I was able to get in to see my new doctor after being up most of Wednesday night with a killer sore throat and fever. Turns out I had strep throat. I had a 102.6 degree temp after taking 800 mg of ibuprofen! Needless to say, I had to call in sick my first night of work for the week! The medicine helped and I was able to work both Friday and Saturday nights. It feels great being back to work and thinking like a nurse again... at least trying to! It's helpful that Chaz is with the kids and I don't have to worry about them.... once I get through the tears and goodbyes when I leave the house!
As bad as this week was, I know that I am blessed and my problems could be far worse! We had a great day today and I have a positive outlook for this new week. If you made it to this point, thanks for reading - writing this has been very therapeutic - that and all the chocolate I've been self-medicating with!! I hope you all have a terrific week!
love,
Allison
