One of our new favorite pastimes is going to the local city pool. Ava got a brand new bathing suit with a built-in life jacket, which has given her lots of confidence in the water. Before today's trip to the pool we picked up these 'squirters'!
Ava likes jumping in the water.... she has no fear!
ONE.... TWO.... THREE!!!
She jumps in and turns to swim back to the wall (all by herself)!
Big brother watching his little sister... but he's hesitant to join her with or without a life jacket.
She looks really sad to be in time-out, doesn't she?!?! There's a clam shaped slide that the kids love and they go up and down it a gazillion times each time we're at the pool. One of the rules is that you go down the slide on your bottom. The lifeguards are strict about this. Ava knows this and went down on her belly not one, not two, but three times in a row (knowing very well the rule b/c she'd been told each time and on separate ocassions)!! So she had to sit out for a couple minutes.... and it worked! She didn't go down on her belly the rest of our time at the pool!
Andrew had this sour look on his face because he didn't want to wear the life jacket... he wanted to hold my hands when he jumped in the pool (instead of jumping in to me... even though I caught him each and every time)... he only wanted to be in the 1-3 foot section of the pool where he could reach... he wanted me to 'catch' him each time he went down the slide (even though it was only 1.5 feet deep there and you land on a rubber mat...and the list goes on!!
Andrew with Papa ... it took us an hour and a half to get him to wear this life jacket in the water and smile!! Of course this happened five minutes before we left!
